Guest chefs include Jack Fulton, Pastry Chef at Casablanca in Cambridge , Chef Lynette Mosher of Rockport's Emerson Inn by the Sea, and Chefs Heather Dill and Elizabeth Hogan of  Cambridge 's Oxford Spa.  Some chefs, like Tony Maws of Cambridge 's Craigie Street Bistrot, can't leave their posts at their restaurants but are sending over something wonderful for the audience to taste.  

Unfortunately, Lynette Mosher had to go into the hospital 2 days before the first performance (due to complications from a car crash) and will not be able to be at the concert. Cambridge Opera extends her our best wishes and we all hope she recovers quickly. Replacement chef(s) to be announced.

"This is the rich buttery brown batter for Le Gateau au Chocolat l'Eminence Brune!" begins the chamber opera that reminds you of all you love about Julia Child. Composer Lee Hoiby's loving  comic tribute, starring Laurie Lemley as Julia, was dedicated to and performed Off-Broadway for months by actress Jean Stapleton. It will make you happy and hungry, and that's good because New England chefs will be there with specialties for the audience. Mezzo-soprano Susan Cooke , soprano Jean Danton, and bass Alexander Prokhorov will add to the fun with songs about food and cuisine including Bernstein's "Oxtail Soup," Handel's "O Ruddier than the Cherry," and Purcell's "If Music be the Food of Love." Thomas Enman accompanies at the piano, and Scott Barrow directs. Host and narrator is Lisa Mullins of The World on WGBH Radio 89.7 FM.
